Big Brain Social Media Marketing Internship

Are you chronically online, obsessed with lectures, and always down for fun weeknight events? Join the Big Brain team as our Social Media Intern!

We’re looking for a creative, trend-savvy, and highly motivated individual who lives and breathes social media. If you have a strong aesthetic sense, love creating engaging content, and have a deep appreciation for learning and community, this could be the perfect opportunity for you.

Big Brain is a lecture series based in San Francisco that brings academics, creatives, and passionate thinkers to speak at the coolest venues in the city—from bars and cafes to community spaces. We’ve only been around for a few months, but we’re growing fast and building a vibrant, curious community.

📌 Position Details

• Position Title: Social Media Marketing Intern
• Location: San Francisco / Surrounding Bay Area (for in-person events)
• Start Date: July 2025
• Compensation: $150/week stipend + free lecture tickets! (With potential to grow into a part-time role in the fall)
• Time Commitment: ~10 hours/week

🌟 What You’ll Be Doing

• Keep Big Brain ahead of the curve by identifying social trends
• Pitch and brainstorm viral, on-brand content ideas (Reels, carousels, Stories, memes)
• Assist in creating content for Instagram, TikTok, and other platforms
• Post regularly across IG, TikTok, LinkedIn (and possibly others)
• Respond to DMs and comments using our on-brand voice and energy
• Support and help coordinate in-person events
• Monitor engagement metrics and suggest potential influencer collabs
• Maintain and help manage our social content calendar

👀 What We’re Looking For

• A current college student (21+) or recent grad passionate about social media, digital marketing, and content creation
• Experience making content (as a creator or through a past internship/job)
• A lover of lectures and community events
• Avid social media consumer (+1 if you're active on #sftok!)
• Familiarity with (or willingness to learn) tools like Canva, CapCut, iMovie, Notion, and Google Suite
• A creative thinker with a strong eye for design, storytelling, and trends
• Available ~10 hours/week and able to join virtual weekly team meetings
• Ideally available through the fall if additional opportunities come up
• Strong communicator with great organization and multitasking skills
• A proactive, detail-oriented team player with ideas to share
• Based in SF or able to commute for occasional in-person events

✨ Bonus Points

• Video editing skills and short-form video content experience
• A polished social feed or content portfolio (we’d love to see it!)
• Photography or Photoshop experience for product/content shoots
• Background in marketing, communications, or media studies
• Previous internship or freelance experience with a brand, creator, or agency
