Senior Patent Attorney – Life Sciences IP Leader | New York City, NY

A top-tier Am Law 200 firm in New York City is seeking a seasoned Patent Attorney with a strong technical background in biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, or medical devices. This opportunity offers high-level collaboration, international scope, and impact on major IP strategies.

This firm is all about keeping costs low and revenue high--by servicing regional clients (including some impressive Manhattan companies) from their New Jersey offices. Key Responsibilities:

• Draft, file, and prosecute complex U.S. patent applications in the life sciences.

• Evaluate innovations for patentability and manage global IP strategies.

• Coordinate with international counsel on foreign patent filings.

• Support due diligence reviews, FTO analyses, and IP portfolio development.

• Conduct in-depth research on scientific advancements relevant to client technologies.

• Collaborate across legal and technical teams to execute holistic IP strategies.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 4 years of patent prosecution experience in law firm or in-house.

• Deep subject matter expertise in biotech, pharma, or medical devices.

• USPTO registration (or eligibility to sit for the Patent Bar).

• Admission to at least one U.S. State Bar.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

• Ph.D. in a life sciences discipline (e.g., biochemistry, molecular biology, pharmacology).

• Additional experience with mechanical or electrical tech is a plus.
