The Public Safety Officer I plays a key role in maintaining a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, and staff. This position supports daily hospital operations by monitoring grounds, responding to incidents, and enforcing safety and security protocols. Patrol hospital facilities, parking areas, and surrounding grounds to deter unsafe or unauthorized activity.
Monitor surveillance systems, alarms, and access control points.
Respond to calls for assistance and provide escorts, directions, and safety support.
Enforce safety and security policies, including visitor screening and emergency procedures.
Assist in emergency situations, including behavioral incidents and medical responses.
Conduct routine inspections of safety equipment and report deficiencies.
Document incidents and maintain accurate activity logs.
Participate in required training, including CPR, Stop the Bleed, Narcan, and de-escalation.
Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and respectful communication at all times.
These requirements must be met to be considered for this position:

Ability to stay calm and make sound decisions in stressful situations.
Physical ability to stand, walk, climb stairs, and occasionally restrain individuals as part of a team.
Ability to lift at least 50 lbs.
Must be at least 21 years old (exceptions may apply for individuals with military, law enforcement, or comparable healthcare security experience).
Ability to work rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
Security or healthcare security certifications (e.g., CHPA, CHSO).
Previous experience in a healthcare environment.
Experience with surveillance, alarms, and access control systems.
Must obtain state-specific security licensing within required timeframes.
Must complete all post-hire training and maintain certifications.
