Job Description

Job Title: Physical Therapist

Job Overview: The Army is looking for a skilled civilian Physical Therapist for the Holistic Health and Fitness Program (H2F) which involves working as part of an interdisciplinary team of occupational therapists, athletic trainers, strength and conditioning coaches and registered dietitians. The H2F program implements support to Soldiers for all 5 domains of wellness into one holistic program these domains include: Mental, Sleep, Spiritual, Nutritional, and Physical Readiness. The goal of the team of professionals is to enhance Soldier readiness and operational availability through Sports Medicine, Strength and Conditioning and Performance Nutrition to optimize physical training, mitigate injury and increase career longevity. Soldier readiness is critical for the Army to continue to be postured to fight and win our nation’s wars.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Provide PT clinical care, consultation and prevention programs to maximize Soldier performance and lethality.
  • Develop and implement strategic plans for physical therapy services, in alignment with the unit’s overall goals and objectives.
  • Plan, coordinate and implement group PT treatment programs.
  • Train, mentor, and supervise human performance team members to include physical therapy assistants, medics, athletic trainers, strength and conditioning coaches, and H2F integrators.
  • Collaborate with and act as a liaison between various professionals such as H2F team, medical treatment facility, physicians, and specialty care clinics such as orthopedics, radiology, pain management, hand therapy clinics, physical therapy clinics and behavioral health.
  • Develops, coordinates and directs rehabilitation goals and duties set by the unit commander and program director.
  • Track, communicate and assess progress PT patient care and case load.
  • Unit patient review and discharge planning meetings.
  • Provide command consultation and unit needs assessments.
  • Develop and advise leadership on the implementation of programs to optimize unit performance and readiness through injury prevention and injury treatment.
  • Perform documentation audits and peer reviews.
  • Stay current with advancements in rehabilitation therapies and techniques, incorporating evidence-based practices into clinical protocols.
  • Integrate expertise into H2F team to arrive at coordinated, holistic care plans and on safe rehabilitation plans.
  • Provide PT program oversight and direction to PTAs assigned to the unit.
  • Provide PT evaluation, diagnosis, interventions and follow up care for conditions to include but not limited to musculoskeletal extremity injuries, spine complications or injuries, neurological injuries/impairments, and pain.
  • Participate in H2F team to coordinate rehabilitation and wellness activities for individual Soldiers or groups of Soldiers with the Brigade training calendar and leadership guidance.
  • Synthesize rehab and injury surveillance data gathered from H2F activities and create reports on the effectiveness of the H2F program.
  • Communicate reports to leadership on the effectiveness of the H2F program.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • One year of experience which includes for a performance enhancement Physical Therapy program: performing evaluations, providing interventions, and coordinating with a multi-disciplinary team.

  • A graduate (or higher level) degree that included a physical therapy curriculum approved by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or a professional accrediting organization recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained, and completion of the clinical requirements prescribed by the school.

  • Applicants must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Physical Therapist from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States; and must have passed the National Physical Therapy Examination administered by the Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy (FSBPT).
