Job Description

Invitation Bookshop is currently seeking an Inventory Coordinator to join our team on a long-term basis. The Inventory Coordinator is a senior bookselling position responsible for overseeing all back-of-house inventory operations and is a member of the leadership team. All members of the leadership team are expected to help maintain a positive, inclusive, and productive work environment.

In addition to overseeing back-of-house operations, this is also a bookselling position with sales floor and event coverage responsibilities. This is a 22-25 hour/week position, with the possibility for growth. Some fluctuation in hours should be expected during large order campaigns. Hours include evenings and weekends.

Summary of responsibilities:

  • Oversees all receiving and maintains the accuracy of inventory data
  • Tracks incoming shipments and special orders, including following up on slow arriving or cancelled orders
  • Reports damages and tracks credits and collaborates with management on periodic inventory analytics and returns
  • Oversees outgoing shipments and provides training to supporting staff
  • Coordinates with other staff members to properly handle seasonal, event, and off-site inventory
  • Provides support for education orders
  • Oversees all preorder campaigns, subscriptions, and signed stock fulfillment

Preferred experience and qualifications:

  • Retail experience, particularly in a back-of-house role
  • Extremely detail-oriented with an ability to prioritize a multi-faceted workload
  • Demonstrated strong verbal communication and writing skills
  • Comfort using a variety of software and other tech tools
  • Able to comfortably lift 35-40 lbs. and stay on their feet for long periods of time

Additional desirable experience and qualifications:

  • Bookselling experience and/or familiarity with the independent bookselling industry in particular
  • Prior experience organizing bulk orders and shipments
  • Familiarity with Bookmanager or other book industry software
  • Post-secondary education

Compensation: The base hourly rate for this position is $18.38, but will increase based on experience and/or changes in CPI-W.
