Job Summary:
The HVAC Controls Technician is responsible for the programming, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of building automation systems (BAS) and HVAC control systems. This role ensures optimal performance of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems through accurate control and energy-efficient operation.
Key Responsibilities:
· Monitor and program HVAC control systems, including DDC (Direct Digital Controls).
· Troubleshoot and repair control system components such as sensors, actuators, relays, and controllers.
· Perform regular preventative maintenance and calibration on control systems.
· Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
· Interface with building management systems (BMS) and ensure system integration and proper communication protocols.
· Collaborate with HVAC service technicians, engineers, and project managers.
· Document all work, including commissioning reports, configuration files, and maintenance logs.
· Respond to service calls and emergency repairs in a timely manner.
· Ensure compliance with all relevant codes, regulations, and safety practices.
· Provide technical support and training to end-users and facility staff.
Qualifications:
· High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree or technical certification in HVAC, electronics, or related field preferred.
· 4+ years of verifiable experience in HVAC controls or building automation systems. EXPERIENCE WITH TRANE TRACER A PLUS.
· Strong understanding of HVAC systems, electrical schematics, and controls logic.
· Proficiency in using software tools for programming and configuring BAS/DDC systems.
· Familiarity with networking protocols (e.g., BACnet, Modbus, LonWorks) a plus but not required
· Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
· Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
· Overall strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite of products
Working Conditions:
· Work performed in commercial buildings and school settings.
· May require occasional evening or weekend hours and on-call availability.
· Physical requirements include lifting up to 50 lbs, standing, climbing ladders, and working in confined spaces.

Pay: $85,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
