Job Description

Advent Talent Group is actively seeking an experienced HR Manager to support a well-established transportation company. This hands-on role will manage employee benefits, ensure legal compliance, supervise HR staff, and oversee daily HR operations with a strong focus on process improvement and strategic alignment.

HR Manager Overview

Location: On-site in Big Lake or Elk River, MN

Position Type: Direct Hire | Full-time (Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM)

Salary Range: $85,000 – $105,000

Responsibilities

  • Benefits Administration - Manage and oversee employee benefits programs including health, dental, retirement, and supplemental plans. Lead open enrollment in collaboration with third-party administrators.
  • Compliance & Reporting - Ensure ongoing compliance with labor laws and regulations including ACA, COBRA, OSHA, and FMLA. Reconcile insurance vendor invoices and support internal and external audits.
  • Employee Relations & Records - Maintain accurate employee records, manage documentation related to terminations, and conduct exit interviews. Handle unemployment claims, workers’ compensation, and address employee concerns professionally and confidentially.
  • Team Leadership & Operational Support - Supervise the HR Generalist and provide guidance on payroll audits, performance management, recruitment efforts, and routine HR tasks.
  • Strategic HR Initiatives - Collaborate with leadership to improve HR processes and systems, ensuring alignment with company goals and enhancing overall departmental efficiency.

Qualifications

Experience & Education

  • 5+ years of HR management or senior-level HR experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (Advanced degree preferred)
  • Prior experience in benefits administration and HR compliance is essential

Skills & Knowledge

  • Deep understanding of labor laws and benefits compliance (ACA, COBRA, OSHA, FMLA, etc.)
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • High ethical standards, strong problem-solving ability, and attention to detail
  • Proficiency in HR software and systems (experience with HRIS is a plus)
