In this role, you will provide expert advice on houseplant care and selection, maintain the health and presentation of our indoor plant collection, design beautiful and engaging displays that showcase the latest trends in indoor greenery, and collaborate with team members to support purchasing functions. Responsibilities

• Perform daily & weekly care of indoor plant inventory, including watering, pruning, grooming, cleaning foliage, and rotating plants as needed.
• Train & support team members on proper indoor plant care techniques & standards.
• Coordinate stocking of plant deliveries and inventory movement
• Maintain a clean & organized workspace to promote safety, efficiency & proper plant handling
• Deliver memorable customer service by utilizing horticultural knowledge and sales skills.
• Plan and execute engaging and strategic merchandise layouts that drive sales and enhance customer experience.
• Educate staff on marketing initiatives, product features, and horticultural care standards to ensure consistent and informed customer interactions.
• Support senior department leads in purchasing functions by providing product insights, sales trends, and inventory feedback for your department.
• Maintain department inventory accuracy, including pricing updates and special-order coordination.
• Work collaboratively with store management and other departments’ leads to achieve sales goals and operational excellence.
• Perform duties both indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.

Qualifications

• Horticultural Expertise . Strong knowledge related to your departments product categories.
• Merchandising . Ability to thoughtfully merchandise indoor plants & accompanying products to create cohesive & attractive displays while maintaining plant health/accesibilty.
• Plant care . Solid understanding of indoor plant care practices, including proper watering schedule, light exposure, soil preferences & early identification of plant stress and or pests.
• Industry Experience. Minimum of 2 years of experience in a garden center or similar retail environment.
• Sales. Minimum of 1 year of sales experience, with a proven ability to engage customers and drive sales.
• Minimum 1 year of cashier experience.
• Familiarity with inventory management processes and POS systems. 
• Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds and push/pull up to 200 pounds with castors.
• Ability to work in an indoor/outdoor environment during all weather conditions.

Work Schedule and Environment

• This position is located at our Vancouver, WA garden center.
• Hours of operation are 9am-6pm, 7 days a week.
• Schedules are not static and open availability both Saturdays and Sundays is required.
• This is a full-time, year round position. 20-40 weekly hours dependent on season and workload.
