Location:  Venice Beach, CA |  Full-Time, On-Site

 

About Institute

Institute is an award-winning production company founded in 2019 by documentary filmmaker and photographer Lauren Greenfield  and multi-platform producer  Frank Evers . With offices in the United States and the United Kingdom, Institute is known for high-impact storytelling across nonfiction media including documentary films, television series, photography, and fine art monographs, museum exhibitions and even Broadway musicals!

Our recent and past work includes:

  • Monographs Fast Forward Girl Culture Thin Generation Wealth
  • Documentary Films Thin  (Sundance),  The Queen of Versailles  (Sundance Winner),  Generation Wealth (Sundance, Amazon),  The Kingmaker  (Showtime, Venice Film Festival), and the recent FX series  Social Studies , a five-part exploration of social media’s impact on today’s youth.

We are currently seeking a full-time Executive Assistant/Production Coordinator  to work directly with  Lauren Greenfield  across all of her multi-platform projects. This is a hands-on role based out of our  Venice Beach  headquarters.

 

Role Overview

The Executive Assistant/Production Coordinator will serve as a key member of the team supporting Greenfield’s creative and logistical processes across ongoing documentary films, series, and multimedia projects. You will help ensure the smooth planning and execution of productions, from development through post, and contribute to the broader mission of creating socially impactful work. You’ll report directly to the company’s senior leadership and work closely for Lauren Greenfield.

 

Key Responsibilities

Production Office & Internal Operations

  • Act as the  central operational hub  across all of Lauren’s work.
  • Maintain internal systems, calendars, shoot schedules, contact databases, and archival materials using platforms such as Google Drive, In Design.

Director & Project Support

  • Assist Lauren Greenfield directly with scheduling, travel, research, and production-related correspondence.
  • Organize and track materials for monograph publications, festivals, and museum exhibitions.
  • Support the development of new project treatments, decks, and visual research presentations.
  • Coordinate press, awards submissions, screenings, and public appearances related to Greenfield’s work.

Festival, Distribution & Promotional Support

  • Work closely with marketing and PR teams to submit films to festivals, prepare press kits, and coordinate distributor materials.
  • Support online presence and social media related to Lauren’s body of work and public initiatives.

Ideal Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of experience in film or documentary production coordination.
  • Deep familiarity with the nonfiction production landscape—especially verité storytelling, archival integration, and artist-led projects.
  • Outstanding organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple timelines.
  • A self-starter attitude with the flexibility to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced creative environment.
  • Comfort with the tools of nonfiction storytelling: transcripts, archival research, interview management, edit schedules, and post-production workflows.
  • Passion for socially engaged storytelling and documentary as a medium for impact.
