Drafting Engineer - Residential Modular Construction

The Role: Our client seeks a Drafting Engineer to join their Engineering Team in the residential division. This position requires strong communication skills and the ability to thrive in a collaborative environment, working on cross-functional teams from concept to production. The ideal candidate will play an essential role in coordinating project schematic designs, drawing sets, subsets, and shop fabrication drawings, while applying critical thinking to solve complex challenges in custom modular home construction.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Develop and prepare 2D/3D shop drawings following company standards
• Apply industry and company design standards for HUD/MOD/COM projects
• Collaborate with third-party design and regulatory professionals
• Maintain detailed drawing records throughout project lifecycles
• Engage with cross-functional teams including Project Management, Procurement, Product Development, Sales, and Production • Prepare material orders through model-based scheduling
• Contribute design suggestions based on client requirements
• Stay current with industry standards and software trends • Apply BIM and DfMA principles and best practices
Required Education/Experience:
• Proven CAD workflow expertise with minimum 2 years hands-on professional experience
• Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD for cross-functional applications
• Strong background in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
• Relevant knowledge in Architecture, Architectural Drafting, or Engineering Technology
• Strong analytical and project management capabilities
• Excellence in team communication and collaboration
• Demonstrated ability to complete projects successfully
• Experience interacting across organizational levels
Preferred Qualifications:
• 2+ years modular industry experience
• Manufacturing process knowledge
• Modular systems and architectural design expertise
• BIM workflow proficiency
• 3D architectural modeling experience
• ERP system familiarity
