About the Opportunity:

Our client, a leader in advanced manufacturing innovation, is embarking on a greenfield Smart Factory transformation. They are seeking a hands-on Data Architect to play a pivotal role in building an Enterprise Data Platform that will sit atop an existing Industrial IoT data foundation. This is a unique opportunity to drive real impact in a high-visibility, high-value digital transformation initiative.

You'll work closely with engineering, product, and business stakeholders to design and implement robust data architecture that enables manufacturing insights and future data product capabilities. You'll be part of a transformative program setting the stage for data-driven manufacturing at scale . Your work will help enable a future where insights from sensor data, machines, and Tier 1 apps drive faster, smarter business decisions across the enterprise.

Key Responsibilities:

• Architect and implement core data platform layers (ingestion, transformation, storage) using AWS technologies (Glue, S3, Redshift).
• Collaborate with Data Engineers, Product Owners, and business stakeholders to build scalable, secure, and future-ready data infrastructure.
• Help define and model the enterprise data platform vision, connecting Tier 1 business applications to IoT/sensor data.
• Provide technical leadership in a greenfield environment—nothing is built yet!
• Support data product enablement —laying the groundwork for a transition to a Data Product operating model.
• Educate and align data owners and stewards on how data enters and flows through the system.
• Participate in internal stakeholder discussions to clarify needs and translate business requirements into actionable architecture.
• Ensure all architecture aligns with internal governance models, including metadata and cataloging strategies.
• Work in coordination with AWS and third-party strategy vendors to bring the vision to life.

Technical Environment:

• AWS Stack: Glue, S3, Redshift
• Data Catalog: Informatica (Business Metadata focus – not fully tied in yet)
• Tools/Concepts: Data pipelines, IoT/Sensor data, Data Products, Metadata Strategy
• Scope of Role: Focused on ingest, transform, and store stages of the data lifecycle
• (No BI/reporting or external data consumption in current scope)

Ideal Candidate Profile:

• 7+ years of experience in Data Architecture, with recent hands-on AWS data engineering/architecture work
• Solid understanding of IoT/Industrial data domains; experience in manufacturing or industrial settings strongly preferred
• Strong communication and stakeholder alignment skills; able to interface with both technical teams and business units
• Hands-on mindset – comfortable being 50–70% technical , building pipelines and storage solutions directly
• Familiarity with data cataloging, metadata management, and governance principles
• Comfortable in ambiguous environments and able to build from scratch
