Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Compounding Pharmacist to join our team. This role involves preparing and dispensing infusion medications, supporting clinical decision-making, and contributing to the growth and development of a small but dynamic pharmacy operation.
This position carries the title of Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) . While there are minimal immediate leadership responsibilities due to the current size of the team, this role is intended to grow into a more formal management position as the business scales. The ideal candidate is someone who is clinically sound, business-savvy, and open to evolving responsibilities.
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM
Pay Range: $57–$70/hour

Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and dispense compounded sterile preparations
- Conduct thorough medication reviews and develop personalized care plans for infusion therapy patients.
- Provide patient and caregiver education regarding medication administration, storage, and potential side effects.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and internal staff to ensure optimal medication therapy.
- Make clinically appropriate and financially informed decisions when prescriptions require pharmacist discretion.
- Handle insurance-related processes including prior authorizations and coordination with coverage providers.
- Monitor patient outcomes and communicate with prescribers to adjust therapy as necessary.
- Manage procurement, inventory, and storage of infusion medications and supplies.
- Maintain pharmacy compliance with regulatory standards and support ongoing quality improvement initiatives.
- Participate in day-to-day pharmacy operations and support future team growth and training.
Must-Have Qualifications:
- PharmD or Bachelor’s of Pharmacy from an accredited institution.
- Current pharmacist license in good standing in the state of Connecticut.
- Demonstrated compounding experience , particularly with sterile products.
- Familiarity with prior authorization and insurance coordination processes.
- Ability to balance clinical and financial considerations when making therapy decisions.
- Comfortable working independently and taking initiative in a growing, startup-like environment.
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across functional teams.
- Interest in evolving into a formal leadership role as the pharmacy grows.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with infusion medications or working in a compounding/infusion pharmacy setting.
- Knowledge of EHR systems and pharmacy management software.
- Certification in infusion therapy (e.g., CRNI, IgCN ) is a plus.
- Clinical background with experience in medication reviews or therapy monitoring.
