DIRECT HIRE | COMMODITY BUYER | CONROE, TX |
Industrial manufacturer seeking a Commodity Buyer, focusing on procuring hardware (hatches, vents, handrails, peripheral equipment) and Maintenance, Repair, and Operations (MRO) materials used for engineered-to-order/fabrication projects. You will source and purchase materials, negotiate with vendors, manage inventory, and collaborate with internal teams to ensure operational efficiency. This role offers a hybrid schedule and the opportunity to make an impact in a dynamic supply chain environment.
- Anticipate $70K-$80K (+/-), based on experience
- Onsite Monday-Thursday (8-5 or similar), remote work on Friday

- CPIM certification a plus (APICS/ASCM)
Key Responsibilities:
- Source and procure hardware (e.g., hatches, vents, handrails) and MRO materials, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery.
- Negotiate pricing, terms, and conditions with suppliers to optimize costs and quality.
- Monitor and manage inventory levels, coordinating with maintenance and inventory teams for replenishment.
- Create and track purchase orders, resolving discrepancies in shipments, pricing, or quality.
- Collaborate with operations, engineering, and maintenance teams to align purchasing with project needs.
- Maintain accurate ERP/MRP data (Microsoft Dynamics D365 preferred) and reconcile supplier invoices.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and support corrective actions for defective materials.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Operations, or Supply Chain Management.
- 2+ years of supply chain experience in a manufacturing or assembly environment.
- Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems (Microsoft Dynamics D365 preferred).
- Strong negotiation, analytical, and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
- APICS CPIM certification is a plus.
