Hours: 35 hrs/week
We are seeking an experienced Certified Medical Coder specializing in inpatient coding for an acute care setting. The ideal candidate will have strong proficiency with EPIC, 3M, and coding applications, along with a solid understanding of federal billing guidelines and medical terminology. This position begins on-site , with potential for a hybrid work schedule after training.
Key ResponsibilitiesPerform accurate inpatient medical coding in an acute care environment.
Review and analyze medical documentation to assign appropriate ICD and CPT codes.
Apply knowledge of coding guidelines, payer regulations, and federal billing requirements.
Utilize EPIC, 3M, and related encoder software to complete coding tasks efficiently.
Research coding issues and provide guidance or training when necessary.
Ensure coding accuracy, compliance, and timely completion of assigned cases.
Work collaboratively with clinical and administrative teams to resolve coding queries.
Maintain a high level of productivity and quality according to department standards.
Certification required: CCS (mandatory) .
Additional accepted certifications: AHIMA, RHIA, RHIT, CCP .
Experience with EPIC and 3M systems.
Inpatient and Emergency Department (ED) coding experience.
Strong computer skills, including MS Word, Excel, ICD-9-CM, CPT-4, and encoder tools.
Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, disease processes, and medical terminology.
Ability to research complex coding questions and support coder training.
